Ian Andrew studied animation at the Royal College and Croydon College of Art, and illustration at Camberwell College of Arts and Crafts. He has worked for many clients on both animated work and book illustration.

Ian illustrated the animated film Dolphins which has been screened at a number of festivals including the London Film Festival and the Bristol Film festival. It has been shown as part of Channel 4 Television's 'First Bite' series in both the UK and North America. This film has also won several awards including Best Newcomer in the Zagreb Animation Festival (1989).

Ian has illustrated books such as The Lion and the Mouse and The Forgotten Garden published by Templar Publishing in the UK and Millbrook in the USA; Black Beauty published by Kingfisher; Jim's Lion and The Midnight Man by Walker Books.

He has most recently illustrated a picture book written by Ros Asquith, Water Boy.
